Lauren Blair Smith Dance Company is a multidisciplinary, coming-of-age contemporary dance company established in Singapore in 2020 with plans to expand to New York City and San Francisco. Our performances inspire and motivate audiences to spring up and take bold steps towards embracing one’s full potential in the arts and in life. Our motto, “let’s break standards” epitomizes our goal to revolutionize and destabilize typical approaches towards the conventional modern dance industry, both on stage and in the studios. Nurturing through educating the next generation is a tremendous aspect of that process towards embracing fresh methods and processes towards dance education. Don’t just dream it, do it. Let’s break boundaries. let's break standards.

Lauren remains passionate about the Company, and, during the Tour, will continue to mentor, advise, and offer virtual lessons as time permits. Lauren founded the Company shortly after graduating from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Her passion for the performing arts has taken her across the world; from growing up in culturally-rich Singapore, to studying classical ballet in Italy, to sharpening her acting chops at the Yale Summer Conservatory for Actors in the United States. While she finds contemporary dance her "home", Lauren also delves into musical theatre, ballet, jazz, tap improv, contact partnering, drama, vocals, modeling, visual art, and film. She even trained in Bollywood dance for the filming of a reality TV dance competition, where she was the youngest contestant and placed as the top female dancer. Mentored by Ming-Lung Yang, Lauren's main focus is producing her unique brand of choreography for the company's repertoire. She brings her grit, determination, and authenticity to nurture the next generation of young artists and looks forward to watching the Company soar.
